It is no accident that we chose the tag line, "The next step is not as big as you think." The decision to first speak to a Basilian about joining the congregation can be intimidating, so much so, that we never do it.

However, especially in the beginning of your discernment, your focus is not priesthood, though you are aware of it; rather, we focus on the next step in front of us. Perhaps, this is why so many of us find discernment so difficult. There are many years and steps before the decision to become a priest is upon you; in most cases the decision at hand is who will best help you determine how to live the life to which you are called.

Whether you become a Basilian or not, talking with a Basilian can bring clarity to your life and talents, so that your next step is taken in the presence of God. Ultimately, our role is to build up the body of Christ with all its diversity of vocations -- single, married, priests and religious.
